Hank Williams Jr. Postpones Two Oklahoma Shows Due to Illness
Country legend Hank Williams Jr. has announced the postponement of two scheduled shows in Tulsa and Thackerville, Oklahoma, citing illness as the reason. The 76-year-old Country Music Hall of Famer shared the update via social media, offering both transparency and gratitude to his loyal fans.
“We’re so sorry to share that due to illness, Hank Williams Jr. will be unable to perform the shows scheduled for this weekend,” his team wrote in the official statement.
New Concert Dates Announced
-
Tulsa, OK – Originally scheduled for August 22, the performance at BOK Center has been rescheduled for September 19.
-
Thackerville, OK – The August 23 show at Winstar World Casino will now take place on September 20.
All previously purchased tickets will be honored at the new dates.
No Details on Illness
While fans were concerned, Williams Jr. did not elaborate on the nature of the illness. Known for his resilience and rare cancellations, this announcement marks a rare deviation from his usual commitment to performing.
The only other upcoming show currently listed on his tour calendar is a performance at the Minnesota State Fair on August 27.
A Life of Resilience
Hank Jr. has faced immense personal tragedy in recent years. In 2020, he lost his 27-year-old daughter Katherine, and in 2022, his beloved wife Mary Jane passed away. Despite these hardships, he has remained largely private, avoiding interviews and public appearances outside of touring.
At 76, Hank Williams Jr. continues to carry the torch of country music’s rich legacy—a journey that began in the shadow of his iconic father, Hank Williams Sr., who died at just 29.
Fans Send Support
The response to his announcement was met with overwhelming support, with fans flooding the comments with prayers, well wishes, and messages of love.
“Take care of yourself, Bocephus,” one fan wrote. “We’ll be here when you’re ready.”
